Viking Show 2010
VIKING SHOW - 22nd August 2010
Lots of crossed fingers and a couple of sun dances later despite a touch and go start to the day the Viking Show was again blessed with dry weather and even a bit of sunshine in the afternoon for the championships! The competitors and spectators were out in force and there were a good number of entries across the three rings, standard, miniature and performance.
This year Mrs Carolyn Pleass judged the Performance Classes. She thoroughly enjoyed her day of judging and commented on the quality of the ponies, riders and handlers forward.
Nigel Vale judged the standard ring and had a ‘very challenging but highly enjoyable time’ judging the very large broodmare class.
Corinna Seipp didn’t have as many ponies to judge as the miniature ring has seen in previous years but it was case of quality not quantity as the Best Miniature went on to take Supreme Champion at the end of the day.
Supreme Champion of the day was Watzo of Berry, a chestnut miniature stallion owned and bred by the Berry Stud but shown for them on the day by Tore Skarpnord from Norway. Watzo of Berry qualified for the Championship first winning the stallion class and then Overall Miniature champion. Clothie Nightcap was overall ridden champion and then went on to take Reserve Overall Champion with his lead rein rider, Melody Goodlad.
