Viking Shetland Pony Show 2021
The PBSA and Viking Show Committee were delighted to have the 30th Viking Shetland Pony Show which was held on Sunday 22nd August 2021 at the Cunningsburgh Showfield. This year’s judges were Douglas McArthur in the Standard Ring, Irene Spence in the Performance Ring and Heather Wilson in the Small Ponies Ring. A lovely relaxed day was had by all, with the weather being unfortunately rather dreich and misty for the duration of the day. Super entries of quality ponies filled most of the classes and gave the judges a long day. This was the second year of holding a long reining class, which went down extremely well with 7 entries forward. Thank you to the Filska Stud for their generous prize donation. An additional Agility section was added to the show this year, and provided something else to do whenever competitors had a spare moment. Huge congratulations to the Merkisayre Stud for winning Supreme Champion with the lovely black standard mare Almnas Sum Sum. Also congratulations to the Reserve Supreme Champion Hollydell Hemera owned and shown by the Hollydell Stud. A great show of super quality ponies turned out to a high standard. Entries were up again on 2019 with a total of 190 entries. It was so nice to see so many spectators at the show, and it was nice to be able to hold a show again after the disappointment of all other agricultural shows being cancelled again for the second year.
