PBSA Youngstock Show 2021

Sunday 14th November 2021 saw the Pony Breeders of Shetland Association’s Youngstock Show return after two years due to the pandemic. There was a fantastic turnout of ponies, exhibitors and spectators. Mrs Jem Roberts from Unst judged the 18 classes with some stiff competition.

Two young handler classes were held before the youngstock classes began, split into age groups of 9 and under and 10 to 16 years old. Both classes were strongly contested with very able young handlers. Logan Sale from Skeld was victorious in the younger age group and Annabelle Wilcock from Urafirth came out on top in the older age group before going on to claim overall Best Young Handler.

Ponies up to 3 years old were entered from all across Shetland, with the best foal going to standard filly Musselbrough Aurra from Janice and Marcus Priest, Unst. Best yearling was another Unst pony, standard filly Muness Shadow from Lisa Hunter. Best 2 year old went to Happyhansel Midnight Rain from Vaila Cumming, Walls. Best 3 year old was miniature filly Breckenlea Savanna from Amanda Slater, Tresta, who was also awarded Best Miniature. The championship saw the 16 first prize winners come together, out of which Muness Shadow was awarded Champion, Best Standard and Best Exhibitor Bred with Musselbrough Aurra standing in reserve.
